SKAUT Lodging House, is a recently renovated historical monument located at the end of a resort spa. It perches on the edge of a beautiful bay and is surrounded by hundreds of centuries-old trees and ancient flora. At the disposal of our guests are 22 beds in single and double en-suite rooms. The majority of rooms have a kitchenette with a fridge whilst all have TVs. There is a fireplace, café, floodlit tennis court, mini golf, and barbecue site. Just 150 m away you can find an outdoor swimming pool. Nearby sanatoriums offer body treatments. Skaut is the perfect place for nature-lovers or those who simply appreciate peace and quiet. When being here you will experience the feeling of a pre-war health resort. We invite fans and lovers of fishing to experience the joy of fishing in our bay and nearby lakes. Biking and walking enthusiasts will enjoy the interesting routes and tracks of Szwajcaria Połczyńska and Drawski Park Krajobrazowy situated right next to us. And those who fancy a spot of jogging or exercising can take advantage of the myriad of trails close by.
Skaut was formerly named Jugendherberge and later “The House of Skaut”. It is here where the German swim team prepared for the Olympics in 1936. The swimmers stayed in Skaut and trained in the nearby Olympic-sized swimming pool. Our lodge is situated in one of the biggest and the oldest parks of the Pomerania. The park itself was established in 1836-1839, and nowadays the park’s area is of more than 80 hectares. In view of its unique flora and great number of animals it was listed on the register of monuments. Serbian pine trees and trees from Northern America and Japan are in abundance here. Once in Skaut you can also visit the centre of Połczyn Zdrój-a famous health resort formerly known as Bad Polzin whilst taking in the host of architecture gems that the town boasts. One of the most precious is St.Mary’s Church built in a neo-gothic style from 1850-60. Also worth seeing is a tombstone of Bishop Erazm von Manteuffl constructed in 1544, a 17th century sculpture of the Last Supper and others of four evangelists from the 18th century. A baroque Castle built at the turn of the 17th century is worth a visit too. The blend of 16th and 17th century town houses with pre-war buildings can take your breath away. Beer lovers can choose Piwna Street to see a brewery from 1825 established by Fuhrman. Not only did he build the factory but also the lodging houses for the workers of the brewery. Those interested in the Second World War might like to discover Borkowo situated just 500m away, which during the WW2 was a Lebensborn centre. Its aim was to assure the continuity of the Aryan race. Cyclists may take a ride from Złocieniec to Połczyn Zdrój (a former railway route built in 1903 and nowadays transformed into a bicycle route) and reach Skaut by a picturesque forest route. |
